We will never call you first, ask for a password, or take payment by gift card — and neither will anyone legitimate.
Who's behind First Mate Cyber

A Neighbor Who Does This for a Living

Not a franchise, not a call center — a working cybersecurity engineer, in your corner.

First Mate Cyber is owned and operated by Anthony — a New Jersey native and professional cybersecurity engineer who has spent years investigating the exact scams that target seniors: fake tech support calls, compromised email accounts, phishing, and fraud.

Most days, he protects businesses from these criminals. First Mate Cyber exists because the people who need that protection most — and get it least — are our parents and grandparents. That's our specialty, but we're happy to help any neighbor in Ocean County who needs a straight answer.

Getting targeted is not your fault, and falling for a professional con is not foolishness. These are organized criminal operations with scripts and quotas. You deserve a professional on your side, too.

Our pledge: We never cold-call seniors, never sell software or gadgets, never ask for your passwords, and never take payment by gift card. If anyone does — that's a scam, even if they claim to be us.

What I Actually Deal With, Day to Day

This isn't theoretical. Every week, I'm the person a business calls when something's already gone wrong — and I fix it. Here's the kind of work that experience is built on:

Ransomware Response

When a company's files get locked and criminals demand payment, I'm the one who gets called at 2am. I contain the damage, work out what happened, and get the business running again — without paying the ransom. What actually makes that possible is having real, working backups, so I make sure yours are solid before disaster strikes, not after.

Email Account Takeovers

Scammers break into email accounts constantly — reading messages, redirecting invoices, impersonating people to steal money. I investigate exactly how they got in, lock them out for good, and trace what they touched.

Phishing & Fraud Investigation

I analyze the scam emails and fake websites criminals use to trick people, including sophisticated attacks that can slip past two-factor authentication. I know their playbook because I take it apart for a living.

Reporting & Documentation

After every incident, I write a clear report — what happened, what I fixed, what to watch for. You get the same thing after every visit: no jargon, just a plain answer.

"I bring this same level of seriousness to a grandmother's laptop that I bring to a company's entire network. The scams are often identical — just aimed at someone with less backup."
